About Melissa

As an artist, I paint with a deep love for all living things, always mindful of the fragile balance that connects us.
My work is an act of reverence — for the flicker of a fish beneath the surface, the curve of a wing in flight, the quiet strength of wild places. Through intricate details and luminous color, I invite viewers to slow down, look closer, and rediscover their own place within nature’s web.

Each painting is not just an attempt to understand anatomy, but to feel what it’s like to live the life of the subject — a reminder that every life has value, and that the beauty of our world is worth protecting.

Horseshoe Crab (soft blues)

Watercolor on paper

Private commission for Linda Kalb. Created in response to the clients request for a gentle palette of blues and purples, inspired by childhood memories of horseshoe crabs along the shore. The composition emphasizes texture and subtle environmental details - sand, barnacles and a hint of water, while intentionally cropping the form to guide the viewer’s eye through the image.
